Formerly the Prince of Wales Museum, the 1922 building by George Wittet sits in palm-filled gardens near the Gateway. Its collection of some 50,000 objects covers Indian sculpture, natural history, decorative arts and an outstanding run of miniature paintings. The building itself, a fusion of Mughal, Maratha and Gothic idioms, is a reason to visit.
