About Vile Parle
The suburb that gave Parle-G its name, split by the Western line into a college-and-Juhu-side west and a quieter east that runs up to the airport. It is largely Gujarati, largely residential, and the eating reflects that: vegetarian places that take their food seriously, and a run of newer restaurants around Navpada aimed at people who live here rather than visitors.
- Getting there
- Vile Parle on the Western line, with the airport a short ride east.
- When to go
- Evening on the east side, when the Navpada restaurants fill up.
Known for
- The first Parle factory, which took its name from the suburb
- Mithibai and NM colleges on the west side
- Dinanath Mangeshkar Natyagriha and its Marathi theatre
- Gujarati vegetarian cooking
Tip. East and west are a proper walk apart through the station subway. Check which side an address is on before you set off.
