Privacy policy

Discover Mumbai is run by Mayur Dighe. This page explains what the site records when you use it and what you can switch off. We don’t sell anyone’s data, and the site carries no advertising.
Visit statistics
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. It saves cookies in your browser so it can tell a returning visitor from a new one. It records the pages you view, roughly where you are (city or country, worked out from your IP address), your device and browser, and the site that sent you here. Google processes this data for us under its own privacy policy. We look at it only as totals, such as how many people opened a guide, and we don’t use it for advertising.
If your browser is set to a European time zone, Google Analytics stays off until you accept it in the banner at the bottom of the page. Everyone else is counted by default. Anyone can switch it on or off for their browser with the button below.
Two other tools count visits without cookies: Vercel Web Analytics, which also measures how fast pages load, and Ahrefs Web Analytics. Neither stores anything in your browser that identifies you.
Feedback you send
The “Was this page useful?” box at the end of a guide sends your answer, any comment you write and the page it was on. It does not ask for your name or email. We read every answer to fix and improve our guides, and we never publish them.
Accounts, saved restaurants and reviews
If you create an account, we store your email address, the display name you choose and your password. The password is kept in hashed form, so nobody, including us, can read it. Restaurants you save are stored with your account. Reviews you write are published on the site under your display name.
To have your account and everything stored with it deleted, contact us on the number below.
Your location
The “Near me” feature asks your browser for your location so it can sort restaurants by distance. The sorting happens on your device. Your location is not sent to us or stored.
Stored in your browser
The site keeps a few things in your browser’s local storage: light or dark mode, your restaurant filters, list or grid view, a copy of the restaurant list so pages open faster, which pages you have already given feedback on, and your analytics choice. They stay on your device and are not sent to us.
Maps, videos and the services behind the site
Some pages show a Google map or a video from a site such as YouTube. These load from Google or the video site, which may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.
The site is hosted by Vercel. Restaurant data, accounts, reviews and feedback are stored with Supabase, on servers in the United States. Both handle this data on our behalf.
Questions and changes
To ask what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, call or text +91 98229 11416.
If we change what the site records, we will update this page and the date at the top.
