About Colaba Causeway
Officially Shahid Bhagat Singh Road, the Causeway is a kilometre of pavement stalls selling scarves, jewellery, brass, sandals and knock-off everything, backed by some of the city's oldest cafés and shops. Leopold Café and Café Mondegar anchor the northern end; Regal Cinema's Art Deco corner marks where it begins. Haggle hard and expect to pay a third of the opening price.
Tips
- Start at Regal Cinema and walk south towards the Gateway
- Good Earth, next to the Taj, is the fixed-price alternative if you hate haggling
- Watch your pockets, it's crowded and the stalls are a distraction
