Bandra is the suburb Mumbai goes to for an evening out, and this route shows why. It starts at the basilica on the hill, drops down to Bandstand for the walk to the Portuguese fort and the sea link view at sunset, then heads inland into the old Catholic village lanes for dinner. It's a half-day that works any day of the week and is especially good on a weekend when the promenade fills up.
The plan
Mount Mary Basilica: Basilica of Our Lady of the Mount (Mount Mary)
The hilltop church and its view. Look at the wax offerings in the oratory beside it.
Bandstand Promenade: Bandstand Promenade
Walk the full length south to north. Fans outside Mannat, joggers, the rocks and the sea.
Sunset at Bandra Fort and the Sea Link: Bandra–Worli Sea Link
Castella de Aguada's amphitheatre faces the bridge. The pylons light up just after the sun goes.
Drinks and dinner at Seefah: Seefah
Up on the second floor of a building on Hill Road in Ranwar, one of Bandra's oldest lanes: Thai and Japanese food with a bar. Order the crab fried rice and the mango sticky rice.
