What diners say

Early reviews are few and split between the food and the front of house. Diners like the cooking, the ghee roast prawns in particular, and several were pleasantly surprised. The complaints are about management: a dress code not mentioned at booking, a rule against outside cakes sprung on arrival, a table smaller than the one paid for, and dishes unavailable. The score will be revisited as more reviews come in.

Frequently asked questions

Does Ammakai have a dress code?

Reviewers report being asked to change before being seated, and say it was not mentioned when they booked. Ask when you reserve.

Is Ammakai the same as Bastian Bandra?

It is in the same space and run by the same company, but the menu is Mangalorean and South Indian rather than Bastian's seafood and Asian dishes. Bastian itself moved to Juhu as Bastian Beach Club.
